Bill Petter Memorial Scholarship
In March of 2011, Kirkland and the world lost Bill Petter; Respected businessman, loving father, devoted grandfather, philanthropist, fundraiser extraordinaire, and long-time Kiwanis member. In memory of Bill, and with the generous support of the Petter family, the Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation has established the Bill Petter Memorial Scholarship.
To benefit individuals, as well as to help address a growing need in the community for trained automotive technicians, the Bill Petter Memorial Scholarship has been created with the goal of providing financial assistance to promising graduating seniors attending any state-accredited high school within the geographic boundaries of the Lake Washington School District, and who wish obtain a technical degree in the field of Transportation Technology at an accredited technical school or institute of their choice.
Scholarships in the amount of $2,100(*) each will be awarded to selected applicants, half of which will be paid in in the beginning of Year One, and other half paid the beginning of Year Two. Payments will be made directly to the school of choice, and are intended to assist with tuition and fees.
Qualifying Areas of Study include:
- Auto Repair Technician - AAS degree or Certificate of Proficiency
- Auto Collision Repair Technician - AAS degree or Certificate of Proficiency
- Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technician - AAS degree or Certificate of Proficiency
Applicant must be a graduating senior attending an accredited high school within the geographic bounderies of the Lake Washington School District.
